Penicillamine
Tertiary centres may use penicillamine for specialist service indications commissioned by NHS England ie as a treatment for Wlison Disease Clinical Commissioning Policy: Trientine for Wilson disease (all ages).
If a GP receives a request to share care with penicillamine from a tertiary care provider with a shared care document that has been developed and agreed with the providers lead commissioner, they can review this and consider agreement if confident in managing medicine/patient, the person’s clinical condition is stable or predictable and the protocol is consistent with local shared care protocols/principles. See HWE NHS shared care and specialist guided prescribing in primary care service specification for further details.
