Ethosuximide capsules
Dear Patient
The NHS carries out regular reviews of medicines to make sure that patients continue to receive high quality and effective treatment that costs the NHS less.
The latest review involves a change in one of the medications for epilepsy on your prescription. The full details of the change are shown below. This new medication will be given to you when you collect your next repeat prescription.
WHAT YOU USE NOW:
WHAT IT WILL CHANGE TO: Emeside® 250mg capsule
This new medicine contains the same active ingredient as your old medication so please continue to take it in the same way and at the same dose as before.
Please finish using all the medicine you currently have before starting on the new Emeside® capsules. The new medicine contains soya and will not be suitable for you if you have an allergy to soya or have been told to avoid soya. Contact your GP surgery if you have any concerns. You may already be receiving this brand from your pharmacy as it is often supplied by pharmacies when a brand is not specified on a prescription.
You should notice no difference in how the new version of your medicine works for your epilepsy as it is equally effective and has the same side effects as your old version
We would also like to take this opportunity to remind you to order only the medicines you need whenever you submit your repeat prescription request.
If you are concerned or wish to discuss the matter, please do not hesitate to contact the practice.
Yours sincerely
