Correction of Privately Funded Treatments
July 2022 v1.1
The increase in privately funded surgery has led to an increase in requests for correction or amendments of such surgery on the NHS. This policy covers any privately funded treatment for which funding is sought to correct or revise the treatment on the NHS.
Funding requests will be considered on a case-by-case basis by the Hertfordshire and West Essex ICB IFR Panel and will only be funded where there is a clinical need or a clinical risk to the patient. Please see relevant service restriction policy on the ICB’s website.
Corrections or revisions for cosmetic reasons will not normally be funded.
Corrections or revisions of privately funded treatment that are required as a life- threatening emergency are excluded from this policy.
