Safeguarding
Safeguarding is effectively protecting children and adults at risk from abuse or neglect. All NHS commissioned services have a key role to play in safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and adults at risk of harm, as safeguarding is everybody’s business. Safeguarding children is a statutory duty under section 11 of the Children Act 2004 and in accordance with government guidance in ‘Working Together to Safeguard Children’ 2018. The framework for Adult Safeguarding was set out in the Care Act in 2014 which came into effect in April 2015.

SAFEGUARDING CHILDREN
Safeguarding Children teams across the three Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCG) are fully committed to their responsibility for protecting and safeguarding children and young people. Robust arrangements are in place to provide strong leadership in line with relevant legislation, statutory guidance and best practice guidelines.
SAFEGUARDING ADULTS
Safeguarding adults at risk of abuse or neglect is everybody’s business. When abuse or neglect occurs or is suspected, it needs to be responded to swiftly, effectively, and proportionately to enable the adult in need of safeguarding to remain in control of their life as much as possible.
