Abdomen and Pelvis CT to rule out Pancreatic Cancer

West Herts Hospital Trust for GP Direct Access CT Abdomen and Pelvis to rule out Pancreatic Cancer

 

Acceptance Criteria:
Patient is aged 60 -75 presenting with unintentional weight loss within the past 6 months (weight loss cannot be explained by other disease or condition e.g. dementia). The weight loss must be greater than 5% of recorded weight or clearly show objective weight loss to the referring clinician. The weight loss must be combined with one or more of the following:- - Diarrhoea or constipation - Back pain - Abdominal pain - Nausea or vomiting - New onset diabetes

Exclusion Criteria:
• Patients below 60 or above 75 years of age.
• Not fit for radical treatment
• Patients between 60 and 75 years of age where weight loss is:
➢ Attributed to another disease /condition. ➢ Less than 5% of the recorded weight or does not clearly show objective weight loss to the referring clinician, over the previous 6 month period.
➢ Not combined with one or more of the following: - Diarrhoea or constipation - Back pain - Abdominal pain - Nausea or vomiting - New onset diabetes 

Patients’ who present with Jaundice should be referred on the urgent 2ww pathway. Local Consultants would prefer patients to have had an Urgent Ultra Sound Scan prior to or at the same time as the referral.
