Ovarian Cancer

The suspected ovarian cancer pathway is triggered by symptoms such as persistent abdominal bloating, early satiety, pelvic pain, or urinary issues, especially in women aged 50 or older. Key risk factors include a family history of ovarian or breast cancer, endometriosis, and certain genetic mutations (BRCA1/2).

If physical exams reveal ascites or a pelvic mass- immediate referral to a gynaecological cancer service is necessary.

Elevated CA125 levels (≥35 IU/ml) require further investigation through ultrasound

And any other findings suggestive of ovarian cancer prompt urgent referral for a two-week wait (2WW) appointment. The pathway emphasizes quick action for timely diagnosis and treatment.
