Re: Change of prescription from FreeStyle Libre 3 to FreeStyle Libre 3 Plus
You are currently prescribed the FreeStyle Libre 3 sensor. When you renew your prescription, you will be upgraded to the FreeStyle Libre 3 Plus sensor.
The FreeStyle Libre 3 Plus sensor is the same size as your current sensor. The advantage is that the upgraded sensor offers greater accuracy and has an extended wear time allowing sensors to be replaced every 15 days (unlike your current FreeStyle Libre 3 sensor which is replaced every 14 days).
FreeStyle Libre is expensive for the NHS. So, to avoid wastage please use up any Freestyle Libre 3 sensors you already before requesting your next prescription.
The FreeStyle Libre 3 Plus sensor works with the existing FreeStyle Libre 3 app and the FreeStyle Libre 3 reader. You do not need to update the app or change your reader. Simply start your FreeStyle Libre 3 Plus sensor with either the app or the reader. Both devices store about 90 days of information, so your data will not be lost.
