Glycopyrronium switch patient letter

Dear Patient

The NHS carries out regular reviews of medicines to make sure that patients continue to receive high quality and effective treatment while ensuring that the NHS gets better value for money.

The latest review involves a change in one of the medications on your prescription. The full details of the change are shown below, and this new medication will be given to you when you collect your next repeat prescription.

WHAT YOU TAKE NOW

(Delete as appropriate)

WHAT IT WILL CHANGE TO

Glycopyrronium 1mg/2mg tablets/capsules

Glycopyrronium 1mg/5ml oral solution

This new medicine contains the same active ingredient as your old medicine. This new medicine is in a liquid form and will look different to your previous medicine, however apart from this you should notice no difference at all.  Please follow the instructions provided with your new medicine to ensure that you take it correctly, the dose you take has not changed. If you have any difficulty administering new liquid form of medicine, then please discuss this with your prescriber. Please finish taking all the tablets or capsules that you currently have before starting on the new form of medicine.  This new medicine should be used within 28 days of opening the bottle.

To obtain your next supply of medicines more efficiently, you can order a repeat prescription by logging into your account using the NHS app which may be downloaded from the NHS website.  We would also like to take this opportunity to remind you to only order the medicines you need each time you resubmit your repeat prescription request as this helps minimise medicine waste.

If you are concerned or wish to discuss the matter further, please do not hesitate to contact the practice or your local community pharmacist.
